BPD responds to reports of 20+ shots fired near Roxbury park during baseball game

BOSTON — Boston Police responded to reports of more than 20 shots fired near a park where kids were playing baseball.

The urgent calls came from the area of Ramsay Park in Roxbury, near Shawmut Ave and Mass Ave, around 6:48 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers with BPD D4 were on the scene within minutes and did not locate any injuries.

Police taped off a perimeter on Shawmut Ave stretching from the park past several businesses.

A Boston 25 News crew saw investigators recovering a number of spent shell casings from the sidewalk and street.

Several parked cars were visibly pierced with bullets.

“This is just hurting my mind, heart, and stomach,” said neighbor Shekisha Vicks. “I was just down here an hour and a half ago. It could’ve been me and my mother who was in the midst of this.”

It’s still unclear exactly where the shots came from and how many suspects may have been involved.

No arrests have been made.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
