Boston tops list of America’s funniest cities, according to new study

BOSTON — Boston is a city rich in culture, history and apparently jokes.

Boston is the funniest city in America, according to a new study by Shiny Smile Veneers.

The study analyzed residents per comedy club, residents per comedy festival, residents per comedy special host city and search volume for comedy specials per city/ state to assemble a final ranking.

Boston took home the top spot with a score of 94/100. The Hub tallied perfect scores in residents per comedy special and search volume. It also has the most comedy clubs per capita, even more than New York City and the second most comedy festivals per capita.

Los Angeles and San Francisco tied for second place with matching scores of 79.

Massachusetts also took home the title of the funniest state in the nation. According to the study, Massachusetts is home to some of America’s most high-profile comedians including Conan O’Brien, Bill Burr and Amy Poehler.

North Dakota is the least funny state in the nation, according to the study.
