Blaze breaks out at multi-family home in Somerville

SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Firefighters battled a blaze that broke out at a multi-family home in a thickly-settled section of Somerville on Thursday morning.

Crews responding to a report of a fire at Central and Ames streets around 6 a.m. found thick smoke billowing from the triple-decker.

Video from the scene showed firefighters on a ladder truck dousing an upper porch area with water.

Porches on all three levels of the home were heavily charred in the fire.

All residents were able to escape to safety.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
