Authorities investigating boating crash that killed a teen on a New Hampshire lake

WOLFBORO, N.H. — Authorities are investigating a serious boating accident that killed one person on Crescent Lake in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire on Sunday.

New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol received a 911 call just before 11 a.m. and upon arrival, officers found two personal watercrafts at the ramp, one with significant damage.

The boats were being operated at the northern end of the lake near the channel to Lake Wentworth, according to officials.

Police say through the initial investigation it appears the lead boat slowed down and the second boat collided with it from behind.

Good Samaritans immediately took the injured teen, who was the operator of the boat, aboard their boat and began CPR while transporting the teen to the boat ramp where emergency crews continued CPR efforts.

The teen was transported to Huggins Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The second operator was not injured and neither boat had passengers.

Both teens are from New York.

The investigation is ongoing; however, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional details is asked to contact New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol Sergeant Seth Alie at (603) 227-2117 or Seth.P.Alie@dos.nh.gov.
