Arrest warrant issued for man accused of robbing an Arlington bank in 2019

Arlington armed robbery arrest warrant

ARLINGTON, Mass. — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Somerville man accused of robbing a Winchester Savings Bank in Arlington last summer.

Arlington Police obtained a warrant for the arrest of Michael Moran, 40, of Somerville in connection to the July 17, 2019 robbery. Moran will be charged with one count of armed robbery while masked with a dangerous weapon.

The armed robbery happened at around 10:21 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2019 at the Winchester Savings Bank on 188 Medford Street in Arlington. Police received reports that a man had entered the bank wearing dark glasses and a Red Sox hat and had his face covered with a cloth.

The suspect then allegedly took out a small knife and demanded the teller give him money, fleeing the bank with an unknown amount of money.

While the investigation has been ongoing, only now was Moran identified as the suspect. He is currently in custody for an unrelated incident in Tewksbury.

“I want to commend Inspector Porciello for his work on this case over the past year,” Chief Flaherty said. “This was a thorough investigation that has allowed us to identify a suspect and obtain a warrant for his arrest.”
