45-year-old man dead after being shot multiple times in Mashpee

MASHPEE, Mass. — Authorities are investigating a late night shooting in Mashpee that left one man dead.

Police officers responding to a report of a shooting at about 11:30 p.m. Monday found a 45-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a statement Tuesday from Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe and police Chief Scott Carline.

The victim was taken to Cape Cod Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, they said.

The victim's name was not released.

There were no arests announced and the killing remains under investigation.
