2 motorcyclists injured in crash on Route 1A in Revere, state police say

REVERE, Mass. — Two motorcyclists were injured, one of them seriously, in a crash on Route 1A late Saturday night, state police said.

A preliminary investigation by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section found that shortly before midnight, two 2021 Suzuki GSX motorcycles exited the Shell Station onto Lee Burbank Highway, or Route 1A, heading northbound.

A witness told police that just north of the gas station, the two motorcycle operators slowed down or stopped in the right lane to wait for a third motorcycle operator who was still at the gas station, state police said.

At some point, an unknown black SUV that was traveling northbound on Route 1A struck both motorcycles and continued northbound, state police said.

Both motorcyclists were taken by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital, state police said. Their conditions were not known on Sunday.

The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police and Revere Police.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
