2 Lamborghinis stolen from Wayland dealership crash in Malden

WAYLAND, Mass. — Two Lamborghinis stolen overnight from a dealership in Wayland were found after they crashed in Malden Tuesday morning, according to police.

Police had gotten a call around 3 a.m. Tuesday about a break-in at the Herb Chambers Lamborghini dealership on Boston Post Road, Lt. Sean Gibbons said. A rock was used to smash through the glass and gain entry inside the showroom and two Lamborghini SUVs valued at around $200,000 each were stolen and driven off the lot, he said, as well as a Chevy Cruze.

An officer saw the two stolen Lamborghinis, along with a Chevy Cruze speed away. The officer was able to pull over the Cruze but couldn’t catch the sports cars. Police say two people who were in the car they pulled over are currently at the Wayland Police Headquarters. It’s unclear if or when they’ll appear in court.

Later, Malden police say they got a report of two sports cars racing around the city, at which point a patrol car started following them. When the patrol car caught up to the Lamborghinis, police say they had crashed into each other at Charles and Pear Streets in Malden shortly after 8 a.m.

A person in another car, who police say was not involved, was injured and taken to the hospital.

According to police, two people ran from the cars. One suspect was caught at the scene and another remains at large, police said.

Elijah McKinney, 18, pleaded not guilty in Cambridge District Court on theft and resisting arrest charges. Police say when they caught him, he had two sets of Lamborgini keys on him.

The investigation is ongoing.
