A 12-year-old boy suffered serious injuries in a dangerous act of train surfing in Boston early Tuesday morning, according to Transit Police.
The child tried to train surf by riding on the top of a Red Line train leaving the JFK-UMass train station just before 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, MBTA Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said.
The boy fell off the train car and suffered a serious, but non-life-threatening head injury.
Transit Police told Boston 25 that train surfing is a highly dangerous and illegal pastime.
“We are continuing to investigate all the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Having said that, our thoughts and prayers are with this child, and it is our sincere hope he makes a full recovery,” Sullivan said.
