Leominster police chief on leave after fight with subordinates

LEOMINSTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – The Leominster Police Chief has been put on leave after what the Patrolmen’s Union calls a physical altercation.

According to a release from the union, Chief Bob Healey got in a fight with two other officers Monday afternoon.

No one suffered any serious injuries, but Leominster Mayor Dean Mazzerella was notified of the situation.

"At this time it's sort of separate the parties and bring in somebody independent to talk to all people involved and then make a decision after that,” he said.

Healey, a member of the department since 1978, has been put on leave and an interim command staff has been set up.

"The police department is in good hands. Acting personnel is great people that work there and will continue to answer the calls and move the department forward,” Mazzarella said.

At this time no criminal charges have been filed. The other two officers involved have not been placed on leave.
