Lawrence man held without bail in connection with stabbing death of boyfriend

LAWRENCE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Lawrence man was arraigned Tuesday in connection with the stabbing death of his boyfriend. 

Miguel Rivera, 50, was arraigned at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston for murder in connection with the stabbing death of his boyfriend Omar Mendez, 39. Both men are from Lawrence.

On Sunday, police responded to an emergency call for a person stabbed at 566 Haverhill St. and found two men suffering from several stab wounds. Mendez was pronounced dead at the scene. Rivera taken to Lawrence General Hospital and later transported to Beth Israel in Boston. He is expected to survive.

Rivera was held without bail after his arraignment Tuesday and is due in court next on March 31 for a probable cause hearing.
