Holliston HS student suspended after bringing BB gun to school basketball game

HOLLISTON, Mass. — A student from Hopkinton High School is out of school Wednesday after police say he brought a BB gun to a high school basketball game Tuesday night.

According to Superintendent Bradford Jackson, a parent notified police after their student told them about a conversation they heard between two students at Holliston High School.

One of the students in that conversation claimed to "have a gun and 100 rounds of ammo" at their home.

Holliston Police tracked down the student and went to their home. The student admitted to owning an Airsoft BB gun and a box of 100 BBs.

Police took the BB gun and assured there are no other firearms in the house.

As their investigation continued, police reported to Holliston school officials they discovered the student brought the BB gun to a high school basketball game and showed it to several students.

The incident is being investigated by school officials and the police - and they say both school consequences and criminal charges are under consideration.

Officials say the student has been removed from the school and "will remain out for the foreseeable future."

They also said there is no evidence the student intended to commit an act of violence at the school or against anyone associated with the school.
