Fully-vaccinated Methuen mayor tests positive for COVID-19

BOSTON — Methuen Mayor Neil Perry, who is fully vaccinated for COVID-19, has tested positive for coronavirus, his office said in a statement Thursday.

The mayor, who is among thousands of breakthrough COVID cases seen in Massachusetts in recent weeks, “is currently not experiencing any significant symptoms but as required by CDC and DPH protocol he will be working from home while quarantining,” the statement said.

Perry received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine earlier this year.

In the statement, Perry said: “Let this be a reminder that this pandemic is not over. IF you are not vaccinated, I implore you to do so.”
