CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Harvard University is forming a review committee after a "violent" arrest involving a student.
Selorm Ohene was struck by an officer during an arrest in April when Cambridge Police responded to reports of a naked man on Massachusetts Avenue.
In a letter released Monday, Harvard University President Drew Faust announced the the university would form a review committee to determine "the sequence of events leading to the student's arrest."
"If our faculty, students, and staff do not feel safe and supported, if they do not feel that the institution is committed to creating the conditions where they can succeed, then we must do better and we must act," Faust wrote.
After the arrest, Cambridge Police said they made numerous attempts to calm Ohene down, but said the student was allegedly high on narcotics, hostile and resisting arrest.
In the video of the arrest, Ohene is seen standing on a media before being surrounded by police, moving towards one of the officers, and being struck and forced to the ground.

Cambridge Police announced earlier in the month that they were conducting an internal review after the arrest.
Faust said she hopes for the committee to complete its work over the summer, and to "make findings and initial recommendations in time for action before the start of fall semester."
