Former Red Sox first baseman Hanley Ramirez reportedly had a friend drop his name in an attempt to avoid arrest while transporting drugs, according to The Boston Globe.

The friend reportedly admitted immediately that Ramirez had no connection to the drugs after he was caught transporting fentanyl from New York to Massachusetts in April.

The report says Ramirez is not under investigation, and is not linked to any drug operation.
