Gorgeous drone video shows snow geese gathered in Skaqit Valley

Skaqit Valley, Wash. — A drone video from Over Skagit showed hundreds of beautiful snow geese gathered in Skagit Valley, Washington, on Saturday. Snow geese and trumpeter swans annually migrate to overwinter in the Skagit Valley area. They can be seen in massive flocks each year.

In 1995, agricultural land along the south side of Fir Island Road was purchased to create an upland snow goose reserve. The area, close to the Skagit Bay estuary, provides an area for snow geese to rest and eat over winter. Local farmers work in agreement with the property, planting crops for harvest and a cover crop of winter wheat for snow goose foraging, according to the Washington Deptartment of Fish and Wildlife.
