Westborough Police are looking for suspects involved in a gold dust scam after a man agreed to pay $306,000 for a product that turned out to be counterfeit.
Police say three men met two others at the Extended Stay America hotel on Computer Drive in Westborough on July 17 to buy gold dust.
The victims allegedly agreed to buy 10 kilograms of the gold dust, which was tested and confirmed to be 22 karat and have a purity of 93 percent, for $306,000.
The suspects agreed to add five more kilograms of the gold dust with payment due after the product was refined and re-sold.
The buyers paid $26,000 in cash before transferring $280,000 into a Bank of America account in order to get the gold.
After proof of the transfer was shown, the buyers got a locked safe that was supposed to hold 15 kilograms of gold dust, and the suspects said they'd give them the combination after the transfer was confirmed by the bank.

Two days after the initial meeting, the buyers had gotten a combination that didn't open the safe, and a locksmith opened it for them instead.
When the safe was opened, the product inside was determined to be counterfeit gold.
Police are looking for help in identifying the suspects, identified as a white man named Jesse O'Brien and a black man named Frank.
