Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones banned from airplanes

WASHINGTON, DC — All Samsung Galaxy Note7 phones have been banned from U.S. air travel, announced the FAA and U.S. DOT Friday.

People who own the mobile phone cannot take it in a carry-on or in checked baggage on flights to, from or within the U.S. The phones cannot be shipped as air cargo.

The ban goes into effect Saturday, Oct. 15 at noon EST.

The devices have been banned following incidents where the phones explode or catch on fire. They have been recalled.
