Foxboro businesses pumped for Tom Brady’s return

FOXBORO, Mass. — As former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady returns to Foxboro Sunday, local businesses are preparing for a Brady boom. Hotels are booking up for top dollar, and bars and restaurants are getting ready to reach capacity ahead of the Patriots-Buccaneers match-up.

Six String Grill and Stage at Patriot Place will have extra bartenders and servers on the schedule this weekend.

“I would consider it, for us, one of the biggest games of the year,” said manager Jeff Maubourquette. “Make sure to cross all your t’s, dot all your i’s. Get enough stuff in. You don’t want to have too much product, but you want to have just enough. And you need to make sure you’re staffed accordingly.”

At Tavolino and Baristo Café Bar, manager Tom Perruna said hours will be extended, opening early for brunch and closing a few hours late on game day.

“We have our patio set up in front, we have a patio in the back, we have all our bars opened up,” Perruna said. “Expecting a big energetic crowd on Sunday.”

It’s been a tough time for the restaurant industry, dealing with COVID-19 restrictions and, for businesses around Gillette, no fans at the stadium last season.

“We’re so excited to see fans back in the stadium,” Perruna said. “It’s been way too long without them. We’re happy to see all our friends back here coming to Tavolino, and of course the match-up of the game, the two quarterbacks. It will be great.”
