24 injured after flight from Logan hits turbulence

Twenty-four people aboard a JetBlue plane that left from Logan Airport were injured when the flight hit a bad stretch of turbulence.

After taking off from Boston Logan at 5:59 p.m., JetBlue Flight 429 bound for Sacramento continued over Wisconsin and then Iowa before hitting the severe turbulence.

"We went into this huge cloud, boom - like flew up way in the air, the whole plane shook it was crazy," said passenger Charlie Judkins.

Passengers reported that people were seeming to "float" as the plane dropped and people screamed in terror.

"I felt like I was on the Tower of Terror. We just dropped like that without a warning and a few people were injured," said Eileen Lynch.

"The storage thing up on top opened up completely just for a second and flew out. A bunch of people got hurt a bunch of stuff fell down all over them. Hurt people's shoulders," said Judkins.

As reported on the FOX25 Morning news, the plane stabilized and passengers said those onboard with medical training began taking care of those around them.

The plane landed in Rapid City, South Dakota around 7:30 p.m. local time and injured passengers and crew members were taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital.

The rest of the passengers were transferred to another flight to continue their journey.

The Rapid City Regional Hospital confirmed during FOX25 Morning News at 5 a.m. that all 24 people hurt on the flight had been treated and released.

"And it didn't look like anything serious had happened, but then they called for medical personnel because some of the flight attendants were hurt seriously, one of the women had hit the ceiling and actually broke part of the ceiling," said Candace Sousa, a passenger.

Those passengers then continued on to Sacramento.
