BOSTON — The dog found running in the O’Neill Tunnel Thursday night has been reunited with her owner.
Boston firefighters from Engine 8/Ladder 1 spotted the dog around 9 p.m. while returning from a three-car crash on the northbound side of the tunnel. The firefighters corralled the dog and brought her back to their fire house on Hanover Street.
A firefighter then walked the dog around the North End trying to find her owner.
Being a true community fire house, a resident stopped by and took pictures of the dog, then posted them on Twitter in an attempt to find her owner.
The dog – named “Sky” – and her owner were reunited around 11:15 p.m.
A Boston police officer escorted the owner to the fire house.
Marc Sanders, a Boston Fire Department spokesman, told Boston 25 News the woman reunited with the dog had paperwork and photos to verify she was the owner.
