Fire extinguished at Westin Copley Place

The Boston fire department battled a small fire in the parking garage at the Westin Copley Place hotel Monday morning.

Fire officials said an acetylene tank caught fire and smoke spread through the garage. Acetylene tanks are commonly used for welding.

Crews had trouble shutting the tank off and sprayed it with water to keep it cool.

The hotel was not evacuated. Maintenance crews were called to fix exhaust fans in the building following the fire.
