TAUNTON, MAss. — Crews worked to extinguish a large fire that tore through a home in Taunton early Thursday morning.
Few details have been released, but fire officials told Boston 25 News that the fire was reported at 215 High St. around 1:15 a.m.
Heavy smoke and flames were billowing from the single-family Victorian home by the time fire crews arrived at the scene, and officials say the decision was made to battle the flames from the outside rather than send firefighters into the building.
Three people and a dog were all able to safely escape the fire.
One firefighter was taken to a hospital to be treated for either smoke inhalation or heat exhaustion.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
No other information was immediately available.
