WOODS HOLE, Mass. — Ferry service from Wood's Hole to Martha's Vineyard will resume on Sunday morning after a power outage on Saturday night forced the ship to dock, causing a series of delays.
Saturday night's delays had a ripple effect on the morning ferry service, where a Hyannis ferry was needed to help substitute the service.

The ferry, named M/V Martha's Vineyard, was backing out of Woods Hole Slip 2 for a 5 p.m. trip on Saturday to Vineyard Haven when it temporarily lost power and had to drop anchor.
According to the Steamship Authority, when the ferry was backing out of the slip, it lost power due to a fuel issue with it's generator.

The issue with the Martha's Vineyard has been fixed, and it will be doing sea trials this morning before it can be cleared to return to service. Until then, the Hyannis ferry will continue to provide substitute service.
While service resumed with a substitute ferry, the first trip out of Wood's Hole will be leaving half an hour later than normal.
With 200 people on board, the ferry was able to make it back to the dock, but caused delays to other ferry trips and the M/V Martha's Vineyard trips were canceled for the rest of the night.
This isn't the first time this year the ferry has been impacted by delays. In March, ferries to and from the Vineyard were canceled for two days because of mechanical failures with a faulty fuel pump.
More than 70 people were on the ferry when it broke down, stranding them for five hours. At the time, the ferry had just been put back in service after having parts replaced ten days earlier.
