EVERETT, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- After responding to two calls over the weekend for the same drug, police are warning the public about a new drug that is being marketed to kids and teens.
The synthetic drug, called NBOMe, causes hallucinations, paranoia, seizures and even death. Doses are usually sold in blotter hits and are cheap, averaging just about $5 each.
Over the weekend, police dealt with two separate NBOMe incidents, both involving teens acting wild and self-destructive, according to Everett Police Chief Steve Mazzie.
"The first individual was incoherent, he was foaming at the mouth pacing at the mouth," Mazzie said. "At one point he attacked the officer."
The other teenager reportedly broke into a stranger's home wearing only boxers.
According to Frederick Foresteire, the school superintendent in Everett, school officials performed a random sweep at the high school, and found no drugs.
With new and different kinds of drugs popping up, he says it's a challenge to keep up.
