Emergency slide deploys inside of JetBlue flight headed for Boston

ORLANDO, Fla. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A JetBlue flight on its way from Fort Myers, Florida to Boston was diverted in Orlando after the plane's emergency slide deployed inside the cabin, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

JetBlue flight 1266 landed safely at Orlando International Airport at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, according to a statement from the FAA, after an emergency evacuation slide deployed into the aircraft cabin.

The crew reported no injuries and the plane made it to the terminal after landing.

A passenger on the plane who called FOX 25 said the slide deployed about 45 minutes into the flight.

"All of a sudden we heard this loud bang. First we thought it was some kids making some noise," said Susan Fiorello, of Reading.

She said the slide knocked a flight attendant over when it deployed.

"First we thought maybe someone got sick because it looked like they were giving someone CPR," said Susan Fiorello. "But it was just someone leaning over the flight attendant at the time just making sure he was ok."

Passengers were expected to be put on another flight to Boston at 6:30 p.m. Fiorello told FOX 25's Maria Stephanos that after the incident she'd rather drive home.

"It was pretty scary because we didn't know what was going on," Fiorello said.

The FAA said it is investigating the incident and will release more information when it becomes available.
