Mansfield woman receives life-threatening injuries in apartment fire

MANSFIELD, Mass. — A Mansfield woman is in the hospital after being pulled from a burning apartment building.

The fire began Wednesday afternoon, and when firefighters arrived there was heavy smoke.

At first, there were no reports of missing residents, but while searching the building the woman was found inside.

"I got here, I just had a sick feeling at that moment. I just had a feeling it involved my mom," Jennifer Foley said. "One of the officers said, 'Your mom had been airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital.' She had burns and smoke and stuff."

Gabrielle Foley's injuries are considered life-threatening, and Jennifer Foley is at her 61-year-old mother's bedside.

Jennifer Foley said she is thankful for everyone who helped save her mother.

"I love you," she said. "Because I didn't get to tell her. God forbid she doesn't make it."

Ten other people were displaced by the fire.

The cause remains under investigation and police are asking for video from anyone who may have seen the blaze.
