DUXBURY, Mass. — Officials with Duxbury Public Schools said claims that an elementary school student was sexually assaulted are “blatantly untrue” and “harmful in its nature.”
In a release to the Duxbury community, officials said a local family claimed that an administrator sexually assaulted their elementary school child.
Officials said an investigation into the claim was launched without the cooperation of the family, and so far there has been no evidence to support the allegations. They said that based on student and employee privacy rights, the information was being shared because the family made their complaint public.
“The allegation by the family is appalling and deeply disturbing,” officials said in a statement to Boston 25 News. “We take matters of this nature seriously and rely on working with families to gather the facts. We have invited the family and their counsel to provide us with further information, but, to date, they have not responded.”
School officials said they intend to fully cooperate with the appropriate agencies, including the Duxbury Police Department. The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and the Department of Children and Families.
Duxbury police on Wednesday confirmed they were investigating the allegations.
“We can confirm that the Duxbury Police Department is and has been actively investigating these allegations,” the department said on Twitter.

The unidentified staff member has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The statement to the community went on to say that even though they are confident the facts will prove the claims to be false, officials are nonetheless disappointed that the family made the case public before the allegations were fully investigated.
