Dirt bikes, ATV seized by Boston police; 3 due in court Friday

BOSTON — A group of men is expected to face charges Friday morning for creating chaos on the streets of Boston while riding dirt bikes in and out of traffic.

It’s an ongoing problem in the city.

The three men are expected to be in court Friday after police said they were operating dirt bikes recklessly in Roxbury.

Police received several 911 calls about the men riding the dirt bikes near Rusfield Street and Massachusetts Avenue.

They said they spotted the three men heading into a U-Haul facility and chased them.

Police were able to arrest 24-year-old Jason Martinez, 23-year-old Giovanny Martinez, and 24-year-old Najja Joseph, all of Roxbury and charged them with Disorderly Conduct, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Operating after License Suspended/Revoked.

Police seized three dirt bikes, a motor scooter and a quad off-road vehicle

All three individuals will also be issued citations for the auto law infractions.

This isn’t the first time police have needed to respond to reckless dirt bikers.

Last month Massachusetts State Police troopers stopped dirt bike riders on the Expressway after they drove around in packs and disrupted traffic.

They seized about a dozen bikes and ATVs and made several arrested. One suspect was shot in the foot.

Boston police said the crackdown on these types of vehicles over the past several months is in response to community complaints.
