Community mourning after man was fatally struck by car in Westford

WESTFORD, Mass. — A community is mourning after a man was killed while jogging in his neighborhood in Westford.

The man was identified by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office on Sunday as 45-year-old Ulhas Kudva, who lost his life less than a mile away from his home in Westford on Friday.

Police say Kudva was jogging down Route 110 by Technology Park Drive Friday night when he was hit by a car, and he was pronounced dead on scene.

"He was a great family guy, and he was definitely very friendly and down to earth," Nishi Bhadra said. "He always cooperated with others and helped others."

The victim's neighbors and friends were left in disbelief after Kudva's death.

"When we first heard about that accident, it was definitely tough to believe that it happened so quickly," Bhadra said.

The man leaves behind a wife and two children, and Bhadra said the kids would often play with her own.

"I don't know how they're going to cope," Bhadra said. "Definitely they need a lot of support."

The support is already pouring into a GoFundMe page for the victim's family, which has raised more than $90,000 dollars at the time of this writing in just one day.

"Life is so uncertain," Bhadra said. "Like, anything could happen to anyone, so probably we should stay together and help each other in this tough time."

The family plans on holding a funeral for Kudva on Monday.

The district attorney said the person driving the car that hit Kudva stayed on scene, and no charges have been filed at this time.
