Codman Academy teacher charged with assault and battery

DORCHESTER, Mass. - A Codman Academy teacher has been charged with indecent assault and battery involving a 15-year-old.

Prosecutors say the charges stem from a situation this past winter.

35-year-old Alfred Johnson was a 7th and 8th grade math and special education teacher at the school. On Thursday, as classes begin, Johnson won't be there, but rather in jail.

Johnson has been charged with indecent assault and assault with intent to rape a child. These charges stem from an inappropriate relationship Johnson is accused of having a 15-year-old boy.

A woman, who has asked to not be identified, says her daughter is in one of Johnson's classes and that Johnson was arrested at the school.

"I didn't know why or what happened all i knew was that the police came and he was taken out of here," said the woman.

Authorities say the alleged assault did not happen on school grounds.

"In my heart i don’t want to believe and I don’t believe it until it’s basically proven because people get accused of things all the time," said the woman.
