CHELSEA, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Crews responded to an apartment building in Chelsea after a young child fell from a third story window Tuesday.
Police say the 2-year-old child fell from a window at 216 Revere Beach Parkway at about 6:10 p.m. They say it appears that the little girl fell through the screen and down at least 30 feet.
The child suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. She suffered broken bones and head trauma from the 30 foot fall.
"They brought the little girl out on the stretcher," neighbor Annissa Alicea said.
She went on to say she was "not moving at all, her eyes were closed and everything."
Chelsea Police said an older sibling was in the house when the girl fell and her mother came home shortly after.
Police said this appears to be nothing more than a horrible accident. The young girl is expected to survive and underwent emergency surgery Tuesday evening.
