Caught on Camera: POW flag stolen from WWII veteran's home

BOSTON — A POW flag hanging at the home of a WWII veteran in East Boston was stolen Monday, and the whole thing was caught on camera.

The flag belongs to 92-year-old Rocco Telese, who wasn’t a POW himself, but says he supports every military cause he can.

The theft was caught on his downstairs neighbor’s security camera.

“Oh, I was disgusted. That’s about the best way you can put it. Disgusted,” neighbor Leo Bombaci said.

On the video, the suspect can be seen walking by the home, pausing, then reaching up and stealing the flag.

“There’s the kid right there then he stops and is analyzing it he wants it at this point,” Bombaci said.

The theft happened around 2 p.m., but Telese didn’t notice it until he went to take his American flag down that night.

“He came down here casing this entire sidewalk looking for it,” Bombaci said.

Telese is headed down to show Boston Police the video tomorrow. He’s hoping they can help him put a name to the face and get his POW flag back.
