The Monsignor William J. Casey Overpass was reopened on Saturday after emergency repairs were needed on the eastbound side of roadway.
MassDOT officials said there was an opening in the roadway on Friday and debris had reportedly fallen from the overpass onto Washington Street below. Boston police were at the scene and had blocked off a section of the area under the overpass.
The bridge was caused delays as drivers were asked to use Centre Street as an alternate route.
The bridge is located by Forest Hills and carries Route 203 over Washington and New Washington Streets.
