SAUGUS, Mass. -- Emergency crews used heavy equipment to hoist a car that had careened into a home in Saugus.
The homeowner's son told Boston 25 News that his parents were inside the home when the crash happened around 1 p.m. but he was not. He said his parents told him they heard a loud boom and felt the house shake but were not hurt.
Neighbors told Boston 25 News crashes are common in the area, but this one was unique.
“He must have went in the air at least 75 to 100 feet," Jason Farmer said.
A crash sent a car airborne - hitting the roof of a home in Saugus today. Amazingly - no one was seriously hurt. I’m live in #Saugus with the details at 10 on @boston25 pic.twitter.com/1sPUNSBWDL

The driver apparently skipped the curb and hit a guardrail before going airborne.
“Big bang. No brakes, no screeching or anything beforehand," Arthur Meehan said. “You could see where the car hit the roof of the garage and you could see where it took out eight feet of guardrail, all their mature bushes next door, stone wall.”
Police said they believe the driver, a 40-year-old man from Melrose, may have had a medical emergency. He was taken to the hospital but is expected to survive.
