Everett Police investigating report of gunshots at an apartment complex

EVERETT, Mass. — Everett Police have been on scene all day after several shots were fired in a loft style apartment complex. Police converged on The Batch Yard apartment complex on Charlton Street in Everett right around 11:30 Friday morning.

Police Chief Steven Mazzie told us shots were fired and nobody was hurt. Police have been on scene all day even looking around outside. Chief Mazzie says they are looking for any information or anonymous tips that will help in the investigation.

Salvador Perezpaoma says residents heard about seven gunshots. “Supposedly three guys got into a car and left after that,” said Perezpaoma.

One resident of the building who did not want to be identified told us it happened by her third floor apartment. “When they came busting down the door all I thought was what did I do,” the woman said, “they told me there was a shooting about a couple of doors down from where my unit was and bullets had gone through the wall is what they told me”

Police say nobody was hurt and they do not believe it was random. The Batch Yard is an old candy factory known for making Charleston Chews. It was converted into loft style apartments. One resident told us there has been police activity here before, including a car shot up. “It doesn’t happen every day but when it happens. It’s not the first,” said the resident.

The people who live here have been able to come and go all day. Some of the residents tell us they do have cameras inside the elevators of the building.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
