BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Bracelets made from the 2013 Boston Marathon street banners were made into bracelets to raise money for the One Fund.
Those looking to buy a bracelet are asked to contribute a $5 minimum donation. John Hancock agreed to donate the administrative costs so that 100% of the proceeds could be given to the fund created to help the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
Sales reached more than $3,000 just two hours after city officials unveiled the 2014 banners and announced the sale of the bracelets.
The 2014 Boston Marathon banners featured a street and "Boston" inside of a heart. The theme of the event is "We Run Together."
"The banners are a sign of Boston's resilience," said Boston Mayor Marty Walsh at the unveiling Thursday.
