BOSTON — Police have found the family of a child found alone on a playground in Mattapan Saturday.
An adult noticed a boy about two or three years old riding a tricycle barefoot at Ryan Playground around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. With no parent in sight, the person called police. The child told officers that his name is Adriel and the boy was placed in the care of the Department of Children and Families.
Boston Police put a call out Sunday afternoon, asking for help in identifying Adriel's parents. By 4:30 p.m., police said they had successfully located his parents.
Why the parents didn't file a missing person's report and what took so long to find them is under investigation.
Adriel remains in DCF custody and DCF said they are investigating the situation.
Boston Police said Adriel appears to be in good health.
A FOX25 source said that the child's parents thought he was with a relative. No charges are expected in the case.
