Boston Pops dress rehearsal: Crowds deal with thunder, lightning and rain

BOSTON — The weather didn't necessarily cooperate for the dress rehearsal before the Boston Pops show on the Fourth of July, as crowds had to deal with thunder, lightning and rain.

Around 8:30 p.m., an announcement was made that they were going to stop the performances and wait to see what the weather did, but the show went on.

Crowds waited hours in line to get into the event, braving the hot weather for a chance to see the show.

"We have Face 10, Uno and just some dice and a deck of playing cards," Corina Pinto said as she waited in line.

Some sprinted across the Esplanade just to snag a front row seat.

"Gonna have to train my daughter better, because she got here second," Rob Estey said.

Estey and his daughter, Isabelle, drove from Northern New Hampshire a day early, just to see a hometown superstar in Rachel Platten.

Caroline Karakey was also excited to see Platten perform, as Karakey made it to the event for the second time with her friends and family.

"I came here last year with my mom and loved it a lot," Karakey said. "It's better on [July 3] because there's way less people."
