Beer Bloggles - Wormtown Brewery

Ben Roesch, Head Brewer of Wormtown Brewery, partnered with Tom Oliveri, owner of Peppercorn's Grille and Tavern, to start Worcester's first packaging brewery in 50 years. Both are Worcester natives.

Wormtown opened on St. Patrick's Day in 2010. The brewery's name is a nickname for Worcester coined about 30 years ago by the city's punk music underground. The brewery is set up in what used to be an ice cream parlor.

Roesche started home brewing while studying at UMass Amherst. He then worked at a handful of local breweries learning the trade. He now has realized his dream of starting a brewery in his hometown.

Wormtown's beers are on tap at Peppercorn's and at various locations across Massachusetts. Their 22-ounce bottles are also distributed throughout the state. Look for the yellow smiley face on the bottle of Be Hoppy IPA, their most popular beer.
