CANCUN — A group of tourists on spring break from the United States reportedly began chanting “build that wall” during a cruise off Cancun, Fox News reported.
The chanting took place on a "Pirate Ship" attraction, and Fox News reports that a Mexican newspaper called the chant an act of "xenophobia and discrimination against Mexicans within their own country."
The newspaper reported that it’s far from an isolated incident as it “adds to the growing number of complaints from tourism sector workers, who point out that in recent days many Spring Breakers have been offensive, rude and haughty toward Mexican people.”
According to Fox News, the reports comes from a Peruvian man who was on board the ship at the time.
“At the end of the show, a flock of Americans (maybe under the influence of alcohol, or maybe not), began to sing the infamous ‘Build that wall’ chant louder and louder,’” the man said in a social media post.
