BOSTON — Jeff Waterman is a lead technician for AAA Northeast and Wednesday he gave an assist in a different sort of way.
“This is AAA’s way of showing appreciation to all the healthcare workers, especially over the past year, the sacrifices and the dedication they put in for the pandemic, so it’s just their way of extending their gratitude,” Waterman said.
AAA delivered healthy snacks to hospitals across Massachusetts with their emergency vehicles showing the message Thank you, healthcare workers. You are heroes to us all. It was part of National Random Acts of Kindness Day.
“It has not been easy, so this really makes it so much better,” said Emika Vincent, a pediatric nurse at Codman Square Health Center in Dorchester.
Some of the stops included Codman Square Health Center and Whittier Street Health Center in Roxbury. Nurses took a brief moment to open their gift boxes, which include mandarin oranges, trail mix, and other snacks. Vincent said the snacks are a great recharge.
“Because when we work long hours, especially towards the end of the day when our energy is running low, having a healthy snack can really power us up and get us through the shift,” she said.
The gift boxes also included five free AAA membership vouchers for the nurses to hand out to anyone they wish to pass along an act of kindness.
