Dedham, Mass -- After one week of play the Celtics embark on their first road game of the season. So there's no better time like the present to begin my weekly take on the C's. Each week I'll tell you what's good, what's bad, where the Celtics can improve and how they'll do in the up and coming week.
After opening the season with a win over the happiless Sixers, the Celtics have lost their past two games. Both were against playoffs teams in 2014. Brad Stevens has his work cut out for him trying to find a line up that can bring wins to the Boston faithful, beginning with a starting five. One thing that's for certain, Tyler Zeller is not the answer. Zeller has a two more rebounds then I do through three games. He's averaging just over eleven minutes a game, which tells me that Stevens realizes he's a big players that should be called on in extreme situations.
David Lee, a player I thought would be a GREAT fit for the Celtics, is off to a horrendous start offensively. Lee is shooting 25 percent from the field and is missing lay up, after lay up, after lay up. Lee has done a good job of rebounding and out-letting the ball, but in the game Boston need him the most, versus the Spurs, Lee was a no show. Just one assist and 2 points on a miserable 1-for-7 shooting.
Isaiah Thomas has not been efficient so far this season, but there's no need to believe he's going to forget how to shoot. Marcus Smart, who is scheduled to miss the game in Indy, will be a key contributor to the Celtics success on the defensive end, and any offense he provides will be a bonus. While Avery Bradley needs to average 15 points or better in order for the team to be successful.
That's a quick synopsis of the Celtics after watching their 3-game home stand to open the season. Now lets take a look at the C's moving forward.
1. Road game number one Wednesday in Indianapolis. Two teams under .500 with the edge going to the home team. Unfortunately, it may take a while for these Celtics to mesh, which includes learning to win on the road. Leaving the C's (1-3)
2. Friday at home versus the Wizards, I'm giving the edge to the Celtics. The Wizards will be coming off a tough home game versus the Spurs and playing the first of two-straight road games. Leaving the C's (2-3)
3. Tuesday next week the Celtics return home to face a Bucks team that looked much improved in the preseason, but are currently playing worst than the Celtics at (1-3) after losing by 25 to the Knicks at home. The C's pull even at (3-3)
Cheer on the Celtics tonight in Indianapolis and check back with Fox 25 sports for my next BS take on the C's. I'll have it next Wednesday before the Pacers visit TP Garden.
