Several people taken to hospital after school bus crash in Brockton

BROCKTON, Mass. — Several people are being treated for minor injuries after a crash involving a bus.

According to Brockton police, the crash happened on Pleasant Street and involved an SUV and a school bus.

"The bus driver got hit and then I banged my head on the seat,” Amare Light, one of the students on the bus, said.

Brockton Police Lt. Mark Porcaro said four people inside the SUV were taken to the hospital along with the bus driver. In addition, two students received attention at the scene as a precaution.

Police said the driver of the SUV appears to have been taking a left out of Cumberland Drive when the bus, traveling straight on Pleasant Street, hit the driver's side.

"I heard the crash, came running out, saw a girl lying on the lawn and there was another girl slumped over the front seat and a boy was trying to get out of the car,” Kimberly McGrath said after the SUV crashed through her fence and onto the front lawn.

The bus was transporting students from the Arnone Elementary School.

"He called me crying his eyes out,” Amare’s mother Megan Dupree said. "Kind of scary, but we're together now and he's safe, right buddy?"
