FALL RIVER, Mass. — An 18-year-old man was arrested Friday night in connection to a double-homicide shooting that happened Tuesday in Fall River, according to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III and Fall River Police Chief Jeffrey Cardoza.
Jeremy Holmes, of Fall River, was taken into custody around 8:15 p.m. Friday at the Boston Marriott Hotel in Burlington.
Holmes is charged with carrying an illegal firearm, carrying a loaded illegal firearm, and unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm. Holmes will be arraigned Monday morning in Fall River District Court.
“I want to thank all the investigators for their efforts in this case, which has led to the arrest of this defendant on firearm charges,” said Quinn. “Our investigation into the senseless death of the two victims is ongoing. Significant resources will continue to be expended as this investigation continues.”
On Tuesday, Fall River Police received 911 calls around 4:22 p.m. reporting shots fired in the area of Griffin Park. Police found two men on scene suffering apparent gunshot wounds.
Jovaughn Antonio Mills, 29, of Fall River, and Miguel Sanjurjo, 14, of Fall River, were rushed to Saint Anne’s Hospital and Charlton Memorial Hospital, respectively, where they both died.
A third man who was shot, 19, of Fall River, was brought to Saint Anne’s Hospital by a private car, the DA said. He was then transported to Rhode Island Hospital and is expected to recover.
The incidents are under investigation.
