SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Police in Somerville are investigating after 16-year-old was shot in the chest and killed.
The shooting happened inside a home on Farragut Avenue around 5 p.m.
The teen, who has not yet been identified, lived in Malden. Friends tell Boston 25 he had made some mistakes in recent years but wasn't a bad kid.
“I want people to forgive him for stuff he got involved in forget about that because I don’t think it was his fault," a friend who asked not to be identified said.
Friends of the victim weren't sure what he was doing in the house, but said he had gone to Somerville High School before recently moving to Malden.
“He left Somerville high and thousands of people signed a petition to get him back into school," one friend said.
There is no information about potential suspects and no one has been charged, but police said there "was never a threat to the community at large."
