HEAT ADVISORY

Get ready for another hot and steamy day across southern New England. A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 AM today through 8 PM Friday as feels like temperatures climb into the upper 90s this afternoon. High temperatures will reach around 90 degrees, but the combination of heat and tropical humidity will make it feel much hotter.

We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds today, and while most towns stay dry, an isolated thunderstorm is possible this afternoon and evening. Any storm that develops will be capable of producing downpours, lightning, and gusty winds.

POTENTIAL HEAT WAVE

The hot and humid pattern isn’t going anywhere just yet. High temperatures in the low 90s are expected through at least Monday, bringing heat wave potential to parts of southern New England. Dew points remain in the 70s through Saturday, keeping the air feeling tropical and limiting much of the overnight relief.

We’ll continue to carry scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorm chances Friday and Saturday. Neither day looks like a washout, and there will be plenty of dry hours to enjoy outdoor plans. As is typical this time of year, keep an eye on the sky if you’re heading outside later in the day.

RELIEF ON THE WAY

Humidity begins to ease by Sunday, although temperatures will remain close to 90 degrees. That means it will still be hot, just a bit less uncomfortable. More noticeable relief arrives gradually by the middle of next week as temperatures get closer to the mid 80s with lower humidity.
