MONDAY ALERT FOR STRONG WINDS & RAIN
A strong area of low pressure will pass west of New England bringing strong winds, heavy rain, and the potential for urban flooding in poor drainage areas as well as the potential for flooding of rivers and streams. Rain arrives by the Monday morning commute so expect wet roadways as well as some ponding throughout the day with rain of varying intensities, a few rumbles of thunder possible...a total of 1-3″ of rain is expected. We’ll be on the mild side of the storm with temperatures rising into the low 60s by the afternoon along as well as an increasing south wind gusting 30-40 mph. The strongest winds are expected to arrive across eastern MA & RI during the evening and continue crank through the overnight hours with peak wind gusts reaching 60 mph! This may cause some uprooting of trees and power outages. Showers end west to east along with diminishing winds by daybreak Tuesday, it’ll remain breezy much of the day with decreasing clouds and temps in the 40s. Cool and dry conditions follow through the middle of the week with milder temps returning Friday.
