BOSTON — Red Sox ace Chris Sale will likely face discipline after throwing behind Orioles third baseman Manny Machado in Tuesday's game at Fenway Park, according to FOX Sports baseball reporter Ken Rosenthal.
Intitially, Rosenthal circulated this tweet:
Shortly after the intitial report, Rosenthal issued a clarification:
CLARIFICATION: Discipline for Sale, if administered, will not necessarily be suspension. Could be something less - warning or fine.

Machado was thrown behind during his first at-bat in the first inning. After the pitch was thrown, both benches were warned that any further actions would result in an ejection.
Machado was livid after the game, criticizing Sale and the Red Sox in a profanity-laced tirade.
Sale responded to Machado's outburst by saying, "I won't lose any sleep tonight."
The bad blood between the Orioles and Red Sox dates back to Friday, April 21, when Machado spiked Dustin Pedroia, a play that forced Pedroia to miss the next three games with a knee injury.
On Sunday, April 23, Red Sox pitcher Matt Barnes threw near Machado's head, which resulted in an ejection and four-game suspension for Barnes.
Before the current series with Baltimore, Red Sox manager John Farrell said, "Much has been said about it. We're moving on," before continuing, "We'll execute the game as called for."
Rosenthal reported on a conference call that took place this afternoon with Farrell, Orioles manager Buck Showalter, the general managers of both teams, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred and MLB chief baseball operator Joe Torre.
Manfred, according to Rosenthal, warned there would be further discipline if the teams continued to throw at each other.
