Rob Ninkovich announced his retirement Sunday. A two-time co-captain, Ninkovich spent the last eight seasons with the Patriots and was a part of two Super Bowl Championship teams.
He spoke at length about his emotional decision to retire. ""I was honest with myself. You have to be honest with yourself. I feel like athletes unfortunately sometimes, they get away from that because they don't want to believe what they are telling themselves. I knew that my time was probably close and just training made it clear for me. When you go squat and you're sore for a week it is not a good thing."
